Scott-Orwell Wheelers are proud to announce two upcoming audax events; the Midlands 300 and the National 400. These follow on from March's Orwell 200 Audax.
Scott-Orwell and the RRTY
Audax interest is peaking in recent months in Scott-Orwell. For 2017, we've had a number of our riders aiming for the Randonneer Round The Year (RRTY). The requirement for this challenge is that the competitors must complete an organised or a permanent audax per month for twelve consecutive months. Our group are set to complete their RRTY challenge in by completing rides through to, and finishing in, October.
In recent history, we've had a small contingent of riders competing in Audax event. Dave Mc and Danny Moriarty competed in the 2015 edition of Paris Brest Paris. The 1,200km PBP will be run again in 2019, the events below are great training and equipment testing.
London Edinburgh London 2017, a 5 day 1,400km event will take place on the week starting July 30th. The Midlands 300 will be great training event for LEL 2017.

Midlands 300
The Midlands 300, also known as the Orwell 'One Lump' 300. It will take place on Sunday July 9th 2017. Despite passing over the Slieve Bloom mountains on the approach to the second control this is still by some way the flattest 300 in the country. Aimed at first-timers and PBP/LEL hopefuls alike, navigation is straightforward and towns offering shops, cafes and garages for refuelling can be found at regular intervals along the route.
