2015 AGM - Tues 20th October was created by Brian Mc
New date added: Tues 20th Oct

As per the earlier post , the AGM is happening this year on Tuesday 20th October, in our regular venue of Ballinteer Community School . Kick-off will be from 19.30

As always, all club members old and new are welcome and indeed encouraged to come along. I'll post details of who is stepping down from the committee shortly.

The CI AGM will be happening 7th November. If you wish the club to bring any motions to that (if we have any delegates considering it's the same weekend as the trip to Nenagh), you should bring them to the club AGM for discussion and approval.

Elections

All roles are up for re-election, but places definitely being vacated are listed below. Any roles for which more than one person is nominated will be decided by a vote (once candidates have been nominated and seconded).

If you are interested in a role, please feel free to contact the person stepping down for more information or advice.

Men’s & Women’s Racing (Mike Hanley, Ann Horan)
  • Represent the racing cyclists within the committee
  • Collaborating with racing mentors to organise coaching days & training talks for racers (esp. novices).
  • Ensuring that all those interested in racing are encouraged, kept informed and updated on events through the various lines of communication - e.g. forum, email, whatsapp.

  • Promoting the likes of the Women’s Crit League and Club League to new racers.
  • Ensuring sufficient numbers partake in club championships (esp. women).
  • Desirable: Dave Mc like knowledge of races to guide riders.
  • Desirable: "Any Given Sunday" levels of motivational speech.

Leisure (Stephen Ryan, Helen Horan) - to be replaced with one role
  • to represent the views of the Leisure cyclist within the committee
  • to put together a programme of activities of interest to the Leisure cyclist (such that they perceive there to be a benefit to being a member of the club)
  • to give Leisure cyclists the opportunity to cycle with other like minded souls
  • to communicate regularly (but not necessarily weekly) with members so that each Leisure cyclist has every opportunity to find out what is going on I the club that may be of interest to them.
  • to work with committee colleagues for the good of the club as a whole

PRO (Brian McArdle)
  • Gather news, results and reports from both touring and racing members, including all age groups of youth, junior, senior and vet riders, both men and women, and all disciplines of road, track, CX, MTB, etc.

  • Assist in the running of the club league races throughout the year.
  • Ensure that all riders have signed on the night.
  • In some cases, drive the lead car for the races.
  • NB: If participating in the club league, organising a race replaces marshalling responsibilities

Club Kit Rep (Stephen Ryan)
  • Ensuring reasonable availability of kit for members – without blowing the club funds
  • Reviewing pricing and quality periodically
  • Ensuring members know how, where and when they can buy kit
  • The taking and placing of orders, at regular but not necessarily frequent intervals

In my parting shots as PRO, here is your incoming committee:

President: Denis Gleeson
Vice-president: Damien Long
Membership Sec: Fergal O'Sullivan
Events Sec: Dick O'Brien
Treasurer: Mark Mulcahy
PRO: Eugene Dillon
Track: Eddie Lynch
Youth: Jen Sheridan
Club League: new additions of Gar Connolly and John Lanigan
Kit: Mike Hanley
Sponsorship: vacant
CPO - Kathryn Keogh
Leisure: vacant
Racing: women: Orla Hendron; men: vacant
Social: Ann Horan

Many thanks to the outgoing committee for their hard work, some over several years.

As you can see above, we have a couple of vacant positions still looking for a candidate. As it stands, the job will not be done if it is vacant. If you were thinking about standing but didn't, now is the time to step forward. Whatever you choose to do with it is up to yourself - there is no pressure to match a predecessor.

Both motions were passed, with the latter subject to an overall cap to be decided by the committee. The wording of the former was changed slightly, but the sentiment remained the same.

I almost forgot, Dave Mc counted nearly 70 attendees at the AGM, which makes it probably the best attended AGM in club history!

Other notable bits of info that came under AOB:
* We can send six delegates to the CI AGM. There will be a separate meeting for interested parties to discuss motions and board candidates next Tuesday. Contact Denis for details. We still have space for one more club representative on Nov 7th.
* Thanks to Dick O'Brien, Orla Hendron, Siobhan O'Connor, Stephen O'Shea and Damien Long, who have all agreed to represent the club at the CI AGM
* Thanks to Siobhan O'Connor for her hard work on the CI board over the last year. It was a pleasure to have her at the meeting, and address on some of the work she and CI are involved in.
* The club have backed Stephen O'Shea's proposal to hold a Club CX Champs in Corkagh Park on Jan 2nd.
* The A4 training group (now including many A3s) thank Dave Mc particularly, and also Stephen O'Shea, for their advice and help throughout the year. Ken O'Neill was singled out after the meeting as a great motivator for the group.
* There will be a W200 training group next year, keep an eye on the forum for details

In an extension to the AGM at dinner in Nenagh, we filled two more positions on the committee.

Please welcome Garrett Connolly as Leisure Rep, and Stephen O'Shea as men's Racing Rep!

We still have a vacancy for sponsorship rep - please talk to Denis if you're interested.
