The National 600 takes place the same weekend as the National 400 - it starts earlier so that the two events merge at some point on the road. Ken and Leonard will have more details if you are interested in trying a 600 (Dave Mc tells me they are easier than 400s!)

Michael Cassidy went out to check the new tweeked 600 route and has shared it on Strava. 22 hours and 28mins with an average moving speed of 26.8kph.

What is also very interesting is that his total time was 26 hours 25 mins - he only rested for 4 hours!

The bar has been well and truly set!

As indicated earlier in this thread ...

The National 400 audax will take place on Saturday 4th August 2018.

For those interested in pushing past the 300 km mark, the event provides a great opportunity to test your ambition, determination and fitness.

The National 400 (by starting at 19:20pm) incorporates a night ride and an optional rest stop in Kilmacow (km 179), Waterford.

The start time should allow National 400 riders to rendezvous with National 600 riders for the final leg from Waterford to Dublin.

To the credit of the route designer, navigation is straightforward and climbing comes in at less than 3,000m.

For full information check out the Audax Ireland Event page though especially note the following:

Entry form: Compulsory and to be found on the Event Page (link above);
Entry Closing date: Friday 27th July 2018;
Venue: Joe Daly Cycles - Dundrum - Dublin 14;
Start time: 19:20pm sharp;
Standard audax rules apply.
