It's that time of year again! The annual hamper race, where all members are encourages to participate in some fun events around Corkagh park before heading to the Green Isle for a generous prize giving.

When: 15th Dec
Where: Corkagh Park (Plenty of groups will be cycling over, try and organise one if you are unsure of how to get there!)

Schedule:
Youths are off at 10
Adults at 11
Everything wrapped up by 12 when we will make the short spin down to the Green Isle.

Fancy dress encouraged!

There is a hamper as the main prize, but donations of prizes are always needed and greatly appreciated!

*** ALL MEMBERS WELCOME ***
This is a race in the same way that kicking a ball around in the local park is the FA cup final. It's all for fun, you will meet lots of new and familiar members. Be competitive or do it for fun, no one really cares and you are encouraged to dress up and not take it very seriously.

It was an icy morning at Corkagh Park, so big thanks to Aidan Hammond for making the most of it anyway and getting the kids doing old-school grass track races! Including some humdingers that we might include in the league next year - the slow bike race, staying upright inside a decreasing circle - along with handicap races!

Damien Long and Eddy Lane donned their Santa hats for the grown ups, with a half-grass half-tarmac reverse and out that saw 3rd place taken at the end of lap 2, 2nd place at the end of lap 5, and 1st place the winner of the final lap 7.

1 David Forbes
2 Neal Hudson
3 Eoin Byrne

For the main event, two handicap groups contested an all tarmac affair after a thaw, with Dick O'Brien out front for most of the race. He was overhauled with a couple of laps to go by an elite group of Scratch riders, with a tight sprint for first!

Big thanks to the organisers and their team of elves - I spied Fergal O'Sullivan, Jen Sheridan and Stephen O'Shea hanging about the sidelines too. It's very much appreciated when people come out on a freezing morning such as this to run a fun and friendly event for everyone! Merry Christmas!
