Track Accreditation was created by David Swift
With Eddie Lynch organising an Orwell Track Champs he wants to see as many people take part as possible. In order to race on the track participants must be track accredited. We're going to organise an accreditaition session for those who would like to race or just want to see what it's like riding on the track.

The session will take place on Sunday the 21st. Time TBC (10am likely time). The cost for the session is €100 for up to 10 people and €5 per person after that. This includes bike rental. The more people attending the cheaper the cost for everyone.

If interested just reply to this thread. There are only 20 places available

May give this a try.
Do we need to bring our own pedals?
If not, what sort of pedals are on the bikes?

Louise, the session is typically about 1.5 hours. This may change depending on the coach though. It would be possible to have an earlier session to accomodate you.

Shane, the bikes use Look Keo pedals or flat pedals with toe straps. The pedals on the rental bikes cannot be changed. There are also shoes available to use at the track that are compatible with Look Keo.

Currently three people would be insufficient for the session, unless you are all willing to pay €33 each. Try to spread the word if you can. Non orwell members are welcome to join too to bring up the numbers and reduce the cost per person.

Thanks David, I have managed to move work start to 12 noon so if there was any chance of a 9.30 start it would be perfect for getting to work on time:)

I'll bow to the majority though...early starts on Sundays aren't always that popular!!

It does't look like anyone else is interested so this session will not be going ahead. The track has also now been booked at the time we were looking at. The next accreditation session is in October, while this is after the club champs it will allow you to race on the track next year

Thanks for the update David.
That is a pity. Thought there would be more interest, especially so close to the Olympics.
Will hopefully give it a go on October

Eddie has organksed an IVCA track accreditation which he has opened up to Orwell members too. It will take place this Friday at 6.30pm. Please be there a few minutes early to get a bike. I assume there is a cost involved so please bring some cash along with you.

We're running this as a joint Orwell/IVCA accreditation so there's no charge for members of either organisation. There's just a €5 charge for bike hire.

In my attempt to get maximum publicity for the Orwell Champs, there are now 3 separate threads on different Forum headings. Not sure if I can manage to squeeze a thread into Leisure or Spins, but Youth is my next target!!

Hi there,

My brother is interested in trying out track. He is not a member of Orwell (yet) but is it possible put his name down for an accreditation spot tomorrow too? Alan Walsh.

Cheers.

This might be a stupid question, but where is the location of this? I'd like to give it a go, but just trying to get out of other commitments at the minute...
