On the distance challenges a lot of work went in during June with riders accumulating 32,000 km albeit it was quieter than May with 38,000 km ridden.

We've seen our first 2 riders complete the respective distance challenges they set for themselves back in March.

Congratulations to Evan Hughes and Gráinne O'Callaghan - great work indeed.

Don't forget to keep an eye on column F in the table which tracks your county location as you continue your journey.
link to Challenges table

So too a lot of climbing happened in June, 323,000 m of it although it was a bit quieter than May with 422,000 m climbed.

We've also seen a number of riders complete during June the climbing challenges they set themselves back in March.

Congratulations to:
Ann Marie Keane,
Caitriona Kieran
Evan Hughes
James O Callaghan
Lorcan Lynch and to
Shaun Kelly.

Nicely done everyone!

June was also a busy month for 140 km spins with 23 racked up amongst the riders who set themselves the challenge of completing 12 such spins between March and August.

Congratulations to both Evan Hughes and James O Callaghan who completed their randonneur challenge this month - chapeau guys.

Lots of luck everyone with the remainder of your challenge(s).

I just checked the distance table there and my June stats didn’t seem to populate but I did submit the form at the end of June. Would it be possible to add them in please?

Thanks,

The Distance challenge:
Congratulations to each of the following riders who completed their
distance challenge during July:
Adrian Gallagher;
Aisling Ni Neill;
Frances Conway;
Leonard Kaye (Leonard put the greatest number of miles in the legs this month
with 1,711 km)
;
Rachel McCluskey and
Shaun Kelly.
Chapeau one and all on riding so consistently over the last 4 months
and completing with 1 month still in the bag!

We have quite a few riders who have timed their progress very well indeed and are nicely poised to complete during August.
Some of the rest of us have a job to do!.
Whichever category you fall into, lots of luck to you during August.

The Climbing challenge:
We have a higher number of riders reaching their climbing targets.
Congratulations to the following riders who completed their climbing challenge
during July:
Aisling Ni Neill (a good month for Aisling having completed her distance challenge also)
Andrew Potts;
Colm Agnew;
Eugene Dillon;
George Flanagan;
Grainne O'Callaghan and
Rob Tully.

Congratulations everyone on a super performance.
Great climbing; great work!

Many more riders are on the cusp of completing their climbing challenge during
August. To each of you, lots of luck on bringing August home!

The Randonneur challenge:
It's been a busy July for the riders testing themselves with this challenge.
Both Eugene Dillon and Leonard Kaye completed during July - chapeau guys, great work and great riding.
Leonard notably dug deep in July with 8 x 140 km rides .... serious.

Several other riders are within touching distance of the 12 x 140 km spins - we wish you well for August.

Lots of luck to everyone with the remainder of your challenge(s).

Hi all

The last window during which to make a dent in your leisure challenge(s) is nearing a close.

To give a little breathing space we are extending that window by 1 week i.e. the original finish date of Sunday 2nd September is now extended to Sunday 9th September.

I.e. when you next log your progress you can do so for the period 1st August to 9th September.

The deadline for updating you progress remains the 10th of September.

Lots of luck in the weeks ahead..

Hi Ken

Just noticed that my June numbers didn't populate. I tried to enter it myself but the file is read only. Distance was 325 and climbing 3334. Would be super if you can update.

Many thanks

Jeremy

Leisure awards.

If you’ve completed a Leisure Challenge or indeed a Hi5, you’ll have the opportunity to receive an award at the Awards Night in the Goat tomorrow night.

If you can’t make it you can ask a club mate to collect yours on your behalf.

The next opportunity to collect your award will be the AGM next month.

No doubt you will understand that awards remaining uncollected after the events mentioned will be re-used for other Leisure activities.

On behalf of the Leisure Committee.

Hi all

If you completed a Leisure challenge and haven’t picked up your award, you’ll have a final opportunity to do so just before or just after tomorrow night’s (Monday 22nd Oct) agm .... just look out for myself or Rachel McCluskey.
After tomorrow the award goes back into the pot to be recycled for another initiative.
Thank you.
