As part of the committee’s ongoing commitment to renewing and developing the membership, the Orwell Pathway has been designed for new adult members joining our Club. Anyone wishing to join Orwell Wheelers for the first time should apply through our expression of interest process; provided they:

  • have a road bike
  • can cycle at a minimum 60km in three hours (i.e. 20kph).

Orwell Wheelers has now closed the expression of interest opportunity to join our Club and we are no longer operating a waiting list. We will review this membership policy again in Oct 2018.

The first two courses are full, however we are operating a waiting list so please log on and submit your expression of interest form.

This process is for people who have never been a member of Orwell Wheelers. The expression of interest process enables the committee to offer the experienced and inexperienced candidates the best way of joining the club.

The committee has designed a new programme for the inexperienced candidates and gives them an opportunity to trial group cycling, before they officially commit/apply to join the club.

This programme will begin on Tuesday 9th January. with an introduction talk, followed by a total of six Saturday sessions starting on Saturday 13th Jan. This first course will be limited to thirty six candidates. This will be on a first come first served basis.

A qualified Cycling Ireland coach, accompanied by an Orwell team, will mentor the new candidates. These candidates will pay €20 for the new 6 weeks programme for insurance and coaching, and €15 for three days of Cycling Ireland insurance. The course is designed as follows:
