1st Time Joiners 

ADULT MEMBERSHIP - PATHWAYS into Orwell Wheelers

 

‘Orwell Pathways’ has been designed for new adult Leisure members, e.g. non-competitive licence holders, joining our Club.

Those wishing to join Orwell Wheelers; provided they: have a road bike, and can cycle a minimum 60km in three hours, should apply through our EXPRESSION OF INTEREST joining link below.

The expression of interest process enables the Pathways Team to offer the experienced and inexperienced candidates the best ways of joining Orwell.

The process is as follows:

  • Fill in the short online application at the link above;
  • Confirm you have a valid Cycling Ireland cycling membership / IVCA membership (If not, you can join at http://www.cyclingireland.ie/page/membership)
  • Pay Pathways fee of €40.00, Membership fee of €60.00, totalling €100.00;

The team will review the application form, and may offer you entry onto our programme, see programme dates below.

‘Pathways’ gives you the opportunity to ‘learn group cycling skills’ in the safety of the enclosed facility in Corkagh Park.

Once you have successfully completed the Pathways process, and have been signed off into the club; then you are welcome to participate in the full club road cycles and club activities, details etc. available on the club website.

If the Pathways Team or the participant feels that more time/experience is needed before fully joining the Club; they will be refunded 60 Euro, e.g. the club entry fee.

 

Pathways Programme

These two initial skills courses caters for up to thirty six candidates on each course.  This will be on a first come first served basis.  A qualified Cycling Ireland coach, accompanied by an Orwell team, will mentor the new Orwell candidates.  The course dates and times are as follows:

Sunday 7th October Corkagh Park

1.    11am to 1pm First Beginner Pathways training session with Club Coach/ Mentors;

2.    2pm to 4pm Second Beginner Pathways training session with Club Coach/Mentors.

 

Sunday 14th October Corkagh Park and surrounding area

·       9am to 1am First Group Pathways training session with Club Coach/Mentors;

·       11am to 1pm Approx. 50k spin with Aidan and Orwell mentors.

 

·       1.30pm to 3.30pm Second Group Pathways training session with Club Coach/Mentors;

·       3.30pm to 5.30pm Approx. 50k spin with Club Coach/Mentors.

 

Saturday 20th October Corkagh Park and surrounding area

  • 9am 11am First Group Pathways training session with Club Coach/Mentors;
  • 11am to 1pm Approx. 50k spin with Club Coach/Mentors.
  • 1.30pm to 3.30pm Second  Group Pathways training session with Club Coach/Mentors ;
  • 3.30pm to 5.30pm Approx. 50k spin with Club Coach/Mentors.

 

Candidates with lapsed membership can join directly by passing this Pathways process.
