Geoghegan's Balbriggan double

Harry Reynolds Memorial, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, 55km, Saturday 4th April
Jim 'Jazzer' Wherity Memorial, 56km, Sunday 5th April

Michelle Geoghegan's rich seam of form continued in Balbriggan CC's weekend festival where the Dublin based Kerrywoman collected top prizes in Saturday's Harry Reynolds Memorial and Sunday's Jazzer Wherity Memorial.

Geoghegan hung on to the testing pace set by the Senior One riders to scoop the women's prize on Saturday afternoon and showed no ill effects from that effort to take top honours on a very testing course in the following day's Wherity Memorial event.

Turning the tables on recent Ladies National League round two winner Francine Meehan, Geoghegan showed her climbing prowess to good effect to scoop first prize while club mate Monica Marconi got up to take fifth.

Meanwhile Stephen McNally missed out on top honours in the Vets/Juniors race but showed that his form is strong ahead of next weekend's Gorey 3-day by initiating the race winning break on the first time up the race's most arduous climb before taking third in the final gallop.
