The Orwell vets enjoyed a bumper haul of prizes at the IVCA end of year prize presentation, held at lunch in the Springfield Hotel in Leixlip on Sunday. Congratulations are due to John Dillon, Lloyd Berry, David Tansey, Ciara Kinch and Arthur Ebbs, who took home a variety of awards and titles between them.

Top of the pile with 1st Fastest All Rounder (FAR) was John Dillon, who also scooped 6th in the Best All Rounder (BAR) competition. The fact that he was the fastest tester in the 50 mile champs and Kelly Cup 25m contributed heavily to his win. Along the way he also managed to win 2nd in the F TT handicap league.

Lloyd Berry went home with a similar sized bag of prizes, netting 5th FAR and 8th BAR. He won the Alfresco Shield outright, fastest over the 25m TT course at Black Bull. He also placed 3rd in the handicap 50m TT Champs, and 10th in the handicap league.

Club President Dave Tansey took home the IVCA Memorial Cup for the B race, after winning from the C/D groups in Duleek. This followed a epic solo win in June, when he went from the line and held off the bunch for the entire race.

1st place in the handicap 25m TT champs was won by Ciara Kinch, rewarding her consistent performances in both the road and track disciplines. Last but by no means least, Arthur Ebbs earned a Silver Medal in the IVCA Dick O’Brien Leisure League, after completing the 100 mile challenge in August.

Congratulations to each and every rider who took part in IVCA competitions, and well done to those who took home prizes. It's a lesson that talent and class doesn't fade with time, and any younger riders should take note!
