With the announcement of the Irish Junior Squad today by CI, Orwell's Rachael Kaye-Mellor is once again at the forefront of Irish cycling.

This is the junior's second year running in the squad, and she was selected after an intense qualification process, with riders proving themselves "with previous results or recent tests" according to development coach Neill Delahaye. The Irish Junior team of 8 boys and 3 girls will be flying out for a one week intensive training camp in Majorca this Monday.

Kaye-Mellor was the U16 National Road Race Champ in 2012, and more recently had her Irish 500 metre junior TT record ratified by the board of Cycling Ireland. The record was broken when she represented Ireland at the world junior track championships in Glasgow last year.

All going well she could be representing Ireland again in the European track championships in Portugal in the summer, but there is a lot of work to be done to get there, starting in the training camp in Majorca next week. Best of luck Rachael!
